Along The River

Oil on canvas. This is my latest Palette knife painting in the impressionist style. I like experimenting with different ways to paint. It makes my art interesting and challenging.
This is from a photo I took on our trip through Paris last spring. It shows the tip of the little island in the middle of the Seinne River that holds that great art museum The Louvre.

Dead Presidents

Just felt like drawing so I picked on Abe and George.
I think Obama is starting to look like Abe. No really.

Happy Saint Valentines Day

Most people trace the story of Saint Valentine back to a Roman priest in the year AD 270. He was arrested and imprisoned for performing marriage ceremonies for Christian couples at a time when such ceremonies were prohibited (as married men were exempt from the Roman army). Valentine also may have aided other Christians who were being persecuted during the reign of Emperor Claudius Gothicus (Claudius II).

Valentine was brought before the emperor and told to renounce his faith, but even under extreme torture he refused to do so. According to legend, couples whom he had married brought him flowers and gifts while he was in prison, which gave rise to the tradition of giving flowers and gifts in his honor. Welcome To California

Since the passage of the Medical Marijuana Bill in 1996 there has been a tsunami of pot clinics in cities from San Francisco to San Diego. All you need is a "script" from a doctor who recommends pot for a variety of reasons, from headache to cancer relief. My problem is the people who buy it for nefarious reasons such as reselling it to people who just want to get high (kids). I voted for the bill myself thinking people would use it for their own illness but it's gone way beyond that.
So let the good times roll. PARTY PEOPLE!! Just don't crash into me or my family when your stoned out of your frikkin' mind.

Oil on wood 8"x10" I used a photo from our trip to Paris as the inspiration and simplified the background to show more of the subject I thought was interesting.  - SOLD

A Teachable Moment

Obama and the Democrats got taken to the wood shed and spanked pretty hard by The Massachusetts voters, by seating a newbie Republican in "Ted Kennedy's seat". Now, I wonder if the President and his band of "merry men" will get the message and pay a little more attention to what the people want, instead of what Obama wants. It was a teachable moment.

Happy Birthday Popeye!

This day in1929- First appearance of Popeye the Sailor in E.C. Seegar's comic strip the Thimble Theatre.
According to the King Features website, "Spinach growers credited Popeye with a 33 percent increase in U.S. spinach consumption and saving the spinach industry in the 1930s!"
Although Segar's Thimble Theatre strip, first published on December 19, 1919, was in its tenth year when Popeye made his debut, the sailor quickly became the main focus of the strip.
