Soul Sista'

I've enjoyed watching the American Idol since it first started and decided to paint a portrait of one of my favorite singers on the show, Candice Glover. She really puts her soul into her performances. Acrylic on stretched canvas 12" X 16"

36 Cevy Finished

Well, here's the finale. After fooling around with this for almost a week, I'm done. With all the chores, etc. I rarely get to finish a painting in one day, rather, I work on it let it alone and work on it again when I get a chance and finally finish after a few days or more. I really don't mind painting this way as it gives me a chance to stand back, sleep on it, fix what I don't like and finally get to a point where I think I've got a decent painting to show.

Painting in Progress

I thought I'd share the progress on my latest painting of a 1936 Chevy. The background I'm aiming for is a street scene of the 1930's with a Soda Shop as the main store. The soda and icecream shops in the 1930"s were the places where the kids met after school and hung out. I'll post the progress as I move along on the painting. This is a 16" X 20" stretched canvas and I'm using acrylics.

Half Dome Update

This is the new version of the Half Dome painting from last week. I made the sky and water darker, added a little yellow to the moon and made some wispy clouds in the sky and mist closer to the ground with some delicate lifting. Lifting off the color is a fairly easy technique but you have to be careful not to get the area too wet and lightly scrub with a clean brush. I practiced on a different piece of paper until I got it right first.
