The first time I saw Mindi Abair was on the American Idol when she played sax for a couple of the singers and I decided I would try to paint her. It's been a few months but I finally got to it. This is a study for a larger painting I'm doing.
Actually she was famous as a jazz sax player before American Idol and has played as back up on several pop albums.

I got the Island itch again and got out the watercolors to push some paint around and came up with this. The image is from a photo I saw on one of the Hawaiian vacation sites. I didn't try to copy the photo, except for the layout, but decided to play with the "wet on wet" technique.
Standard and Poors new credit rating for the U.S. is already under fire from the White House and I expect the left wing to bring out all the big guns to discredit the agency. One thing President Obama doesn't like is being criticized, so he wasn't pleased about this for sure.
